Theory of why CBD flower is still illegal
I've been wondering why CBD flower is still illegal in the UK while CBD oils are allowed. On the face of it this seems illogical: why allow the substance but continue to ban the source?
I think the main reason is to simplify detection of illegal cannabis flower. At the moment, anyone can easily identify cannabis flower due to its unique look and smell, but if CBD flower was legalised it would require proper analysis.
If CBD flower were legal, police would need some way to prove that siezed flower was the illegal type – and would they bother for simple possession which many police already turn a blind eye to?
So maybe legalisation of CBD flower could be a useful step towards de facto decriminalisation of weed?
